Donate Materials

What we accept:

The library accepts books, DVDs, CDs and magazines that are in good condition and of current interest.

What happens to donated material:

All donations become the property of the Greater Sudbury Public Library and are evaluated by the same criteria used for purchasing materials

The library reserves the right to decide the distribution of all donations received, and to refuse unsuitable material. Material which is not needed for the collection may be donated to Better World Books if suitable, or sold for the benefit of the Library. Such materials include:

  • Outdated audiovisual formats
  • Older editions of materials
  • Items that do not meet the Library's collection policy

The Library does not accept:

  • Materials that are moldy, smelly, yellowed or marked up
  • Licensed software programs
  • Encyclopedias, medical books or travel guides that are more than 3 years old
  • Readers Digest condensed books
  • School text books
  • Damaged DVDs and CDs

Getting the items here:

Donors are responsible for delivering donations to the Library. Donated materials may be delivered to any branch of the Greater Sudbury Public Library, during regular branch hours (space permitting). Materials must be in boxes marked as "Donations to the Library."
