Battle of the Books

The Forest of Reading« to replace
2017-2018 Battle of the Books Competition

Battle of the Books logoFor this year only, the Greater Sudbury Public Library has decided to try something new instead of hosting our usual Battle of the Books / Bataille des livres competitions. We realize many teachers and students look forward to this event each year and we hope you will take part in the alternative that we will present at this time. We invite all teachers and students in grades 4 to 6 to check out The Forest of Reading« booklists. This year's list was officially released on October 16th. GSPL will ensure we have multiple copies of the books ordered if we don't have them already and will be encouraging schools to promote these books to their students.

Teachers who participated in Battle of the Books in past years will still receive a list of books to encourage their students to read and will be given an opportunity to register for the Forest of Reading« program (which will entail a class visit activity and a chance for students to vote for their favourite books from the Forest of Reading« in the spring). If teachers are interested in finding out more, please send an email to Monique Roy, who will provide you with further information about Forest of Reading« books, the school program and how to register in December.

We apologize to any teachers and students who were looking forward to the usual Battle of the Books event but hope that the Forest of Reading« will continue to bring the excitement of reading to your students.
