Miscellaneous canned foodFood for Fines

The Greater Sudbury Public Library is bringing back the popular Food for Fines program for the month of December. This initiative allows citizens of Sudbury a chance to clear their overdue library fines. For every two items donated to the Food Bank, the library will delete $5 from outstanding fines up to a maximum of $30. All food collected will go to the local community Food Bank.

“Food for Fines is a great opportunity for people who may be reluctant to visit the library due to their overdue fines,” says Claire Zuliani, Manager at the Greater Sudbury Public Library. “Not only can they clear their fines but they can help those less fortunate at the same time.”

Items most in demand at the Food Bank at this time of year include canned vegetables, peanut butter and cereal. All non-perishable food items are gladly accepted.

All 13 branches of the Greater Sudbury Public Library are participating, so drop in to the one nearest you. Clear up your fines and support this worthy cause. Please help those less fortunate and donate generously.
