Adult Volunteer Opportunities

At this time, the GSPL is not taking any volunteer applications.


By volunteering at the library you can make a difference while using and developing your skills and abilities in any one of the following areas:

Gardener

A number of Greater Sudbury Public Library locations rely on volunteers each year to care for small planters and flower beds alongside or in front of their facilities. Plants, small hand tools and watering supplies are provided by the location, the volunteer is asked to provide ongoing tending between spring and fall. A seasonal commitment is preferred at the following locations: Coniston, Copper Cliff, Garson, New Sudbury, South End, Valley East

Homebound Delivery

If you have a few free hours each month, you may be interested in volunteering for the Homebound Service.
New volunteers are always needed. Delivering library materials to those who are unable to visit the library because of age or health considerations can be very rewarding.

Local History

Assist in preserving materials of historic value to the community through the production of preservation-quality scans of publications, microfilm, photographs, slides and negatives. This position is limited to the Main Library due to the specialized equipment required and the unique nature of this collection.

Program Helper

Some of our ongoing in-branch programs could use a helping hand with preparation, set up and take down.

Special Event Helper

Assist Library Staff with the preparation, set up and take down of a large scale library event. The help required will be tailored to the needs of each event and directed by Library Programming Staff in charge of the event, or their designate.

Tech Tutor

Tech-savvy volunteers can assist seniors and other adults to navigate new devices and technologies, or work with them in a group or individual setting to enhance basic knowledge of computers, typing or mousing and internet skills.

Workshop Facilitator
