Teen Volunteer Opportunities

At this time, the GSPL is not taking any volunteer applications.


GSPL's volunteer program strives to connect youth with the library, and offers the opportunity for young adults to connect with other adults and seniors in their own community in a variety of ways.

The VolunTeen Program also provides volunteer roles for students in Grades 9-12 currently attending any high school in the City of Greater Sudbury so that they may fulfill their Community Service Hours requirement before graduation.

By volunteering at the library you can make a difference while using and developing your skills and abilities in any one of the following areas:

General VolunTeen

Assist library staff in your local branch in a variety of ways, including but not limited to: preparing the library for programs and events, helping older adults with technology related problems and assisting with local book sales.

Local History

Assist in preserving materials of historic value to the community through the production of preservation-quality scans of publications, microfilm, photographs, slides and negatives. Due to the specialized equipment required and the unique nature of this collection, this position is limited to the Main Library for applicants of 16 years of age or older.

Special Event Helper

Assist Library Staff with the preparation, set up / take down of a large scale library event. The type of help needed will be tailored to the needs of each event and directed by Library Programming Staff in charge of the event, or a designate.

Technology Tutor

Tech-savvy volunteers can assist seniors and other adults navigate new devices and technologies in an individual setting to enhance basic knowledge of computers, email and internet skills or to help with eReader set up.
